2 Research the market

Once you have a clear idea of your niche, you need to do some market research to find out what other coaches in your area and in your industry are charging. You can look at their websites, social media, and online directories to get a sense of their rates, packages, and offerings. You can also join coaching associations, networks, and forums to learn from other coaches and get feedback on your pricing. Remember, though, that you don't have to match or undercut your competitors' rates. You need to charge what reflects your experience, skills, and value.

3 Calculate your expenses

Another factor to consider when setting your rates is your overhead costs. These are the expenses that you incur to run your coaching business, such as marketing, insurance, taxes, software, training, certification, and office space. You need to track your expenses and estimate how much they add up to on a monthly or yearly basis. Then, you need to divide that amount by the number of hours you plan to work as a coach. This will give you your break-even point, or the minimum amount you need to charge to cover your costs.

Most people benefit from multiple sessions. When you offer a discounted package of 5 prepaid sessions, it is a win-win. The client commits to coming, is less likely to cancel, so has more opportunity to achieve desired outcomes. As the coach you have more certainty, money in advance, don’t have to keep asking for money, have less administration.

What’s your self worth? In other words, how much money do you feel comfortable accepting per hour? It doesn’t matter that other people are charging more. If you aren’t internally aligned to your hourly rate, it will be hard for you to ask for that amount of money. And clients will feel uncomfortable paying it, without knowing why at a conscious level.
