When it’s time for critique, be very specific about areas for improvement, using concrete examples and actionable suggestions so they understand exactly where adjustments are needed without feeling discouraged. Aim to balance the ratio by giving praise for every critique, framing feedback within a constructive context that reminds them of their capabilities while guiding them toward new levels of success.

This is a great question. The method that I seem to always use is the sandwich method. Lead first with the praise. Highlight a skill, project, task, or initiative that went really well. Follow the praise with the growth opportunity. Close the conversation with another positive, challenge, or commitment. The goal in the conversation is not Feedback, but Feed-Forward. It's about continual growth.
