My approach would be to break it down into two simple questions: 1. What do business stakeholders need? i) Data-driven decision-making: The dashboard should add value in terms of simplifying decision-making by summarising the report with the help of visual cues and key insights. ii) Data quality: data sanity is the top priority which is what makes the report shareable and allows one to make a decision. 2. What do data analysts need? i) Clear cut requirements: in terms of what is the problem we are solving, why is this an important problem and how will a dashboard solve this problem? ii) Identifying value addition: knowing how to add value in terms of automation, tracking key metrics, and providing ease of access along with usability.
