1 Experience and certification

The first thing you should check is the level of experience and certification of your potential drone pilots. Depending on the type and size of the drones you use, and the industry and location you operate in, you may need to comply with different regulations and standards. For example, in the US, you may need to obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA, or a COA (Certificate of Waiver or Authorization) for public or civil operations. You should also look for pilots who have logged enough flight hours and have proven their ability to handle different scenarios and challenges.

No creo que exista un piloto de drones que no sea curioso, que no disfrute el hecho de despegar y tener esa vista de pájaro que antes no todos los mortales podían vivir. Por eso el hecho de tener cada día mejores herramientas que nos permitan desarrollar nuestra curiosidad nos abre las puertas a un potencial creativo asombroso. Se reconoce a un piloto curioso al ver que no solo habla o piensa de drones sino también que diversifica su tiempo con otras áreas creativas como la música o los deportes.

Un piloto de drone crea sus experiencias volando. Al principio en entornos controlados, luego en simuladores y finalmente en el campo, en el aire. Aprender a "sentir" el drone, le digo yo a mis alumnos. Y la mejor manera de desarrollar la capacidad de solución de problemas es acumulando horas de vuelo y leyendo acerca de las experiencias de otros pilotos. Por eso es tan importante, de manera constante salir a volar, así no tengas trabajo u operaciones por realizar, y dedicar al menos 1 hora al día de lectura o visualización de videos de algunos pilotos top en sus áreas.
