Every perspective gets equal weight? No. Suppose (it's happened to me) that two people met. One says they had a substantive discussion, and you quote the account, along with corroborating details. The other says nothing happened. You quote him/her to that effect. That's their right, and that does not mean they get equal weight as a reward for saying nothing.

The advice in this article is general (AI?) and fixed on journalism as accounting, keeping track of balance. "Avoid charged or emotive terms"? Really? Notably in investigative reporting, the reporter arrives at a judgment. There are other ways to be balanced than to eliminate any trace of passion, engagement and commitment. Young journalists should know they have other options.
