One thing I’ve found helpful is making sure that the team understands what is truly expected of them so that each member can review the work and confirm that the allocated time is enough and to speak up if it isn’t. Cultivating an open culture and opennnes to feedback helps as well, as regular check ins on progress. There is never unlimited time for projects but being honest with yourself and the team really keeps you in the game with a serious mindset and limits demotivation.

BELIEF BELIEF BELIEF If you instill belief in your team they are going to do everything possible to execute. A wise owl once told me that speed x accuracy = flawless execution and this is something that will likely never escape me! If your team believes in what they are trying to deliver this is the-incentive for the great strategy that you have developed. I am a big believer that execution can outpace strategy any day of the way — so to foster growth as your team if they believe in the process — if yes..you are half way there (strategy) — so focus on executing like never before…and watch the outcomes!

Mapping a clear carreer path to get your mates to see a big picture and know where they are now will boost your team toward the goals you want to achieve. More tasks to handle together with job titles are a good way to start. Speed of doing taks is also an indicator to know how your teammate has grown up.

I remember when I joined a company where the department staff were not from a pure audit background. That time I had to select either a great fast win or setting a target to grow the team naturally by developing their skills. I selected the biggest challenge and decided to encourage the team members to study for professional certificates, and I convinced the audit committee to approve a high budget for professional development. Within a span of 18 months, we had 3 out of 4 fully qualified auditors. One of them replaced me when I left the company.?

We are giving them the freedom to think for themselves and work out how to achieve the desired result. However, they may need our assistance from time to time and as you know, highly effective leaders are always there for their people. By being there for our people we are showing them that we care for them.

Clarity is key, as any misunderstanding can jeopardize not just the project or role, but potentially a working relationship as well. 2: Ask “What do you need to be successful and what can I do to help with that?” I’ve helped so many managers that asked “Why didn’t that employee just ask for help?” Fair point but I always follow up with “Did you ask them if they needed any?” It seems simple, a no-brainer, but I’ve found it to be rarely used in practice. Again, be an ACTIVE listener.
