Feedback is important and can also be hard to hear sometimes. It is important to learn the difference between taking feedback personally or professionally, both positive and negative. The difference is, in hearing negative feedback professionally, I am hearing what might help me hone my skills. When negative feedback is taken personally it is more like I have done something wrong. Positive feedback taken professionally tells me that my professional skills are on point or growing. When positive feedback is taken personally it makes it more about me than the skills I am learning or gifts I have been developing. Learning to separate the two has been critical in overcoming fear of failure and doubt for me.
