Do not chase after the latest technologies. Most companies do not require the most fancy stuff to achieve their goals.

You will need to be persistence, resilience and have the energy to fight many battles. To develop and execute an IT strategy takes time and be prepare for setbacks. Doest matter how good you think the strategy is, there will be challenges and obstacles. Learn to take a break in between, sometime you will need step back, breath, recharge and go again.
