Sometimes, even after carefully planning a lesson to suit diverse learning needs, things don’t always go as planned. I vividly recall a challenging period when I struggled to engage my students in a science unit. After receiving constructive feedback from my colleagues, I took a step back to reflect on my teaching methods. This introspection revealed that my approach was too rigid and didn’t accommodate the diverse learning styles in my classroom. Peer collaboration are a great hit because you can avoid mistakes someone else does. Whenever I want to put up displays in my class at the beginning of a session and I am blank as to what I want to do, I took a tour of the classrooms within the school, or sometimes ask my friends at other schools what they were doing in their classrooms. By the time I am done touring, I would have great ideas. Sometimes, I invite some friends into my class to look at it together. My best times at my previous school was whenever Lower Key stage 2, which comprised of 4 classes at that time, came together to work on History - Invaders and Settlers. One class displayed the Celts, another the Romans, another did Vikings while the other took Anglo-Saxons.

For those areas where you are already good at but could be better, go for a course or a diploma; something to make you or that you will be tagged or called on to help others.

Student and Parental feedback is to be treasured. It tells you if you are on the right path or not. It helps you to know if you should change your method of teaching or not. It will also help you to know if you should change tactics concerning a certain learner or not. It will also help you to realize if you are doing well as a person or not.
