Your users are eager for immediate changes. How do you address their feedback while planning the next update?

Collecting user feedback is crucial for understanding necessary changes. Set up an easy system for users to submit thoughts and issues, such as in-app forms, support tickets, or a dedicated email. Log and categorize all feedback to ensure nothing is missed. Make users feel heard and valued by acknowledging their input, which is key to maintaining a positive relationship.

I would do the following: Facilitate the discussion with the appropriate business analyst or product owner with the user to clearly map the modules and screens Use a slack or teams channel through which users can communicate various observations. This can be helpful instantly in case of clarification only issues. Include the respective leads/architects in such channels for a quicker resolution. Have regular show and tell sessions with users to ensure the team has delivered in alignment with user needs. Capture meeting minutes of show and tell sessions. Have regular follow ups with the users either through automated tools or manually as needed to ensure their needs are understood and implemented adhering to project constraints.

Immediate Acknowledgment and Analysis Acknowledge Feedback: Promptly acknowledge the receipt of user feedback. This helps users feel heard and valued. Categorize Feedback: Categorize feedback into different types, such as bug reports, feature requests, usability improvements, etc.

While prioritising the issues understanding their impact in terms of user, keep a close eye on the impact on the project triple constraints to ensure that you are within the thresholds. Certain items can be low hanging fruits which can be quickly addressed while the rest might need a thorough impact analysis before being planned for a subsequent iteration.

There are always a gamut of ideas and features people want a product to have. As an organisation that incubates it, it is very important that customers get a clarity on their feedback being heard and also understand that there are plans to consider those feedback. On the same hand a thought on how business critical the idea is and how it will/can be a game changer against competition in market should be pursued which will help prioritise it for GTM. Once identified the timeline we should always circle back with the plan to the customers which Delights them and keeps them hooked waiting for their feedback to be live. This completes the loops and makes the customer valued and hence encourages customer retention and business sustainability.

Use a prioritization matrix to determine the urgency and importance of each piece of feedback. Immediate critical bugs should take precedence over new feature requests.

In my experience I found it beneficial to have a staged planning approach closely related to user impact and other project triple constraints. Emergency changes : Usually done for very high priority requests. This has a significant amount of risk which is related to the testing done. Respective development and support teams should be in standby for any unexpected issues while user testing as the time is limited. Short Term Plan Usually considered in the next subsequent sprint or release with some reshuffling to the already existing items. Low to Moderate risk associated which relates to the amount of assessment done. Long Term Plan: Probably addressed as a CR or another phase 2 project which needs assessment to a greater detail.

To address user feedback while planning the next update, follow these steps: Acknowledge Feedback: Respond promptly to show users their input is valued. Prioritize Issues: Categorize feedback by urgency and impact to focus on the most critical changes first. Set Expectations: Communicate a realistic timeline for updates, explaining the need for thorough testing and quality assurance. Provide Interim Solutions: Offer temporary workarounds or improvements to address immediate concerns. Engage Users: Involve users in beta testing new features to gather more feedback and ensure satisfaction. By balancing immediate feedback with strategic planning, you maintain user trust and deliver high-quality updates.

A good strategy is to involve the user in key sprint planning sessions to ensure that they have a visibility of the changes which goes in along with the rationale. This gives an opportunity to brainstorm and reshuffle few items as per the consensus of the user and adjust them as per business severity.

Open up early testing grounds to an in house testing squad who have a clear understanding of this issues and appropriate test data. Request the test data for the issues from the actual business user upfront if not available. Integrate the test cases as part of the continuous integration pipelines for improved synergies.

Adhoc release management can create a lot of panic amongst the users particularly when there are requests from the users in a haphazard way. In my experience I found the below helpful 1. Merge related items in a release like a group of tickets that is related to the issue or can prevent such issues. 2. Have releases planning meetings with the user to keep them aware of how and when their changes will be available, environment details, testing window etc. 3. Build an automated release management process which sends notifications to the relevant users when the changes are deployed and ready to test 4. Update release management tools accordingly with the release status count of issues and update release note which is centrally verifiable.

Proper communication with users about issue prioritisation based on recieved feedback from them, planning major and minor release cycles are the most important steps to take in order to make the users happy but also keeping the system stable.

Educate the User What could be the value of doing any changes without understanding the impact it could make to various technical functional and operational workflows? Time ti have an educatory session with the user to understand the implications in short and long run. Running through previous retrospectives of unplanned changes, revisiting lessons learnt and what not.

There is always short-term actions that can make a good impact and long-term ones that takes time to deliver. I would come up with a list of short-term actions and long-term ones. Then assign a priority for delivery.
