Burn out is a symptom of really poor time management and lack of prioritisation. When we put FIRST THINGS FIRST, a la Stephen Covey, we spend 70% of our time on: Relationships, Knowledge, Learning, Teaching, Planning. This is quadrant II, where things are Not Urgent and Important. If we really live in this quadrant then we ameliorate the pressure of deadlines. This is not abstract BS, but genuine wisdom!

I've learned that preventing burnout in high-performing sales teams requires proactive leadership style and a focus on their personal well-being. From my experience leading global sales teams, I’ve found three key strategies that make a difference: 1. Encourage Regular Breaks: Short breaks help the team recharge and maintain focus during high-pressure periods. 2. Foster a Supportive Culture: Create an open environment where team members feel comfortable sharing their challenges and seeking support. 3. Invest in Professional Development: Provide continuous learning opportunities to keep the job exciting and promote career growth. These have helped me build resilient, successful teams that surpass targets with a personal balance.

To prevent burnout in a high-performing sales team, implementing regular breaks is essential. Encourage team members to take short, frequent breaks to recharge and refocus. Creating a supportive culture allows individuals to share their challenges and seek help without fear. Additionally, offering professional development opportunities keeps the work engaging and rewarding, helping team members feel valued and motivated. Regular check-ins can also help identify early signs of fatigue and allow for adjustments in workload. Creating a positive sales culture is important. Realistic goals, contests and spiffs, schedule face to face calls, stretch goals, solid sales leadership.
