If my team’s trust is on the line after missing a deadline, the first thing I’d do is own it. I’d be honest about what happened, take responsibility, and acknowledge the impact it had on the team. Then, I’d focus on solutions—sharing a clear plan for how we’re going to make things right and avoid similar issues in the future. I’d also make space for the team to share their thoughts or concerns, so they feel heard and involved in moving forward. Trust isn’t rebuilt overnight, but showing accountability, transparency (well, you know what I mean!), and a genuine commitment to improvement goes a long way. From there, it’s about following through and proving through actions that we’re back on track.
