Flexibility and reusability are the factors due to which we follow certain coding standards. If such conflicts arise then we must compare the code, come to a middle ground and see that by using which structure we can make the application more scalable as per the project requirements. In most cases, suggestions are always welcomed where both the structures are as per the coding standards and client keeps both the code and use them as per their needs.

To reach a middle ground, I suggested we use their preferred rapid deployment method for the initial launch, but retain my practices for testing and code optimization in the back-end. This way, the website could go live quickly, but I would have the flexibility to make essential updates for security and performance enhancements post-launch

Coding standards are there for a reason , some are dictated by the language community itself and some by organizations or domain. The ones dictated by the organization or the domain has to be learned as you change organizations. This is true also when you change projects if you are working for different companies as a consultant

As I’m the sole developer, I made sure to educate myself on their chosen deployment methods and adapt my workflow accordingly. This helped me maintain my client’s pace without compromising on the eventual need for quality and security.

Evaluation of previous projects is very helpful as we know the pain points and areas where we have written bad code due to which issues have arisen. Thus, we optimise them in the upcoming projects which eliminate those pain points beforehand. By optimising the previous code and making such adjustments we lay a great foundation for the existing team members as well as the new joiners in our organisation.
