Your team is struggling to share ideas and opinions. What’s the best way to encourage them?

We can create an environment for the team to speak up freely. One of the best and most successful ways which I practiced and experienced is "Lead of the Month" i.e. make an individual within your team to play your part for one month. Let her/him speak among the team to get innovative ideas, as the teammates can speak casually with them than you.

As a fellow introvert, we invest more time in thoughtful reflection before sharing our perspectives. Inclusivity isn't a want; it's a necessity. Be empathetic, give space, and avoid assumptions.

A good team leader must be a good listener and listing a problem from team short out 50% issue ...If we give them a healthy working atmosphere,They must come to us with a solution instead of raising the problem. All need to realise them importance of ownership and Accountability and of course good leaders must lead from the front and demonstrate to them how to solve the problem and earn team confidence that leader is always with them??

Sometime the real and unique barrier is the way ideas are shared. I mean, lots of time people is not sharing but imposing ideas, in this way forcing the others to defend their ones. Sharing ideas means let the others the possibility of debating on them. There are not good or bad ideas, but discussing around them is the way to find the best solution. Therefore in my opinion, creating the right atmosphere in the team is the right way to let ideas be fuid and easily shared among the staff. It's not only to put in someone else shoes, it means learning to listen the others, trying to understand from where that ideas born.

It's critical to overcome hurdles like fear of being judged, distrust, hierarchical structures, communication style disparities and psychological safety in order to promote idea sharing within your team. Establish a safe space where all opinions are valued and accepted; develop trust via candid dialogue and team-building exercises; reduce hierarchy to give everyone a voice; enable efficient communication with tools and training; recognize and thank contributions; and iteratively improve the procedure in response to input. It is possible to foster a more inventive and cooperative team dynamic by removing these obstacles and putting tactics in place that encourage candid communication.

One thing I definitely find most helpful is taking them out of their regular spaces. This is where they perform their day-to-day activities and just taking them somewhere more inspiring goes a long way to get the creative juices flowing. Secondly, make them the leaders. If you are a good leader and can communicate your strategy well to the implementers, they will surprise you with some innovative ideas. It also shows them that you trust them. My last two cents, make it happen. Allow them to implement their ideas and take ownership of it. And then celebrate the success of their work. The next round of brainstorming will be easier once they see the impact and results of what started as their ideas.

In my experience, working with large volume teams, the most important and basic thing is to welcome any idea that comes to a teammate's mind. A useful situation that I see in my day-to-day work is to bring incentives to openly discuss ideas that are a little low in expectations, so that we can collaboratively build some alternatives that connect with the need we are seeking to solve. Communication is the most basic rule and if we don't have this space within the environment, we won't achieve any goals.

Create a safe and fun space. Listen to your team and understand what encourages them to get up everyday and try to some how integrate this in their roles. Its easier said then done but the more transparent you are with your team, the more you get to know about them and what really inspires them.

In my opinion, the ideal situation would be for management to take preventative measures to avoid such situations by creating an environment that promotes trust, openness and a positive error culture. A good leader should act as a role model, build a strong team and create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable speaking their mind so that innovation can flourish. This is also crucial for the productivity of each team member.

A very good question. Sometimes this happens a lot when team members don't think they have a voice. This should not be the case. Team leads should empower team members to meaningfully contribute their own share of ideas and innovations for the teams success. Create a system where each member can drive a project themselves that way they always feel they are integral to the process and not just statistics in larger scheme of things.

Open door policy works best at my end, this practice not only boost confidence to my fellow colleague's but also strengthen the relationship and feel of belonging towards achieving common goals.

As a supervisor/boss you should know expertise of every member in your team. Raise a topic which concerns their expertise. Then your team-member with that particular expertise will speak up and in that way you effectively manage your team. Don't play divide and rule policy and don't micromanage them.

I always try to reach my previous team and consider about their personalities, their emotion, their perspective, and how they explain something (tha's clear enough or not). I arranged a meeting once a month and asked them about what we can do after that? What's your ideas? Then, they one by one try to explain and try to understand is my duty even they felt like they didn't know what they're talking about. But, I tried to explore their ideas and started to ask them to write about what we have to do at first to achieve our goals together. Every body in this team is important, so your participate is mandatory in this time.

One of the most effective ways is to have a huddle meet with the teams to openly discuss few abstract ideas and as a manager, you can lead with example by sharing few on your own. This will set the stage and give enough fuel to move the conversation. I have tried this at several occasions and always works. It’s important that the team trusts you and believe that as a leader, you also have enough ideas to brainstorm and openly discuss with them. This will help to get rid of any concerns or complex within the team’s on sharing any ideas or thoughts.

While it's convenient to keep it anonymous, it's more effective when done in person, face to face. Appreciating efforts and giving credit where due are essential. Lastly, visualizing the impact created by the team's efforts towards the end of the project is imperative.

A leader should try to give easier and small tasks to the team so that they get a feeling that everything is achievable and hence when they will be doing a little tougher tasks, they start making multiple attempts to get a solution and will eventually come up with a better idea.
