If your team is facing challenges delivering value, it's like navigating a ship in stormy seas—align everyone around solving the customer's problem to stay on course. Clearly define the customer's pain points and collectively set sail towards addressing those issues. Much like every crew member contributes to keep the ship steady, ensure each team member understands their role in solving the customer problem. Regularly check the compass, in this case, customer feedback and insights, to make course corrections as needed. By keeping the focus on the customer's needs, your team can weather the challenges and sail towards delivering meaningful value.

Before embarking on any journey, I ensure my team is united by a clear understanding of the customer problem. We leverage tools like user stories and personas to define and communicate these challenges, fostering a shared empathy for the user experience. Furthermore, active involvement in customer research, feedback sessions, and validation activities allows us to step into the user's shoes. Also, encourage them to join customer research or feedback sessions to understand their target audience better fostering a shared empathy. Encourage open and honest communication within the team to understand their perspectives on the challenges. Also, hold regular internal reviews on the sprint retrospectives, identifying inefficiencies in the development process and communication channels to identify potential bottlenecks.

As a leader, it's crucial to rally the team during challenging times. Here's how I'd help: 1. Establishing Objectives & Key Results(OKRs) is critical to your ability to measure the impact of the value you deliver to the customer. BEFORE you ship a feature to customers: 1. Align on your OKRs with stakeholders 2. Put together a measurement plan in partnership with your analytics stakeholders 3. Provide stakeholders with a timeline for measurement readouts & definitions for each metric you are tracking & its source - 30/60/90 days post launch 4. "Evangelize" your results to demonstrate the value you delivered to the customer in existing meetings with stakeholders & schedule a readout meeting A feature launch without measurement of the impact delivered to the customer is the #1 cause for tension between Product/Tech/Business.

Set up OKR process, and have the team build the OKR's bottoms up. Ideally it would align to the strategic initiatives if everyone is aligned. If not then it's a sign that the vision and mission are not aligned across the company. Setting these clear and measurable goals is difficult when everyone has a different vision. Like any Product, break it down to its fundamentals, and tackle one milestone at a time.

I've learned to set goals that we can easily see and measure. It's like setting clear checkpoints in a race so we know where we are and where we need to go next. We often adjust these goals based on what we learn along the way.

Share relevant information using tools like Slack, Jira, Confluence, or Google Docs to build trust and accountability.

Good communication is key. I always try to keep everyone in the loop and encourage them to share their thoughts and concerns. It's like keeping the lines open so we can pass the ball smoothly in a game.

Communication is where I think Agile can help a lot in the development of a product. Daily stand ups provide frequent updates among your team members while the bi-weekly sprints clearly sets the agreed goals to reach for the entire team. I would also advise to have one main place for communication: using too many tools can easily confuse your team.

I've found that giving my team the right tools and support, and then trusting them to do their jobs, works wonders. Celebrating small wins together keeps everyone pumped.

Many people would think compensation is the most important driver of why an employee would work at a company. However, what is most motivating is actually "feeling valued" at the company. Empowering your team members and trusting them to do the tasks and make decisions is a great way to motivate them. Tying back to not delivering value to the customer, your team is likely discouraged by this issue which would further erode their quality of work. Through empowering and motivating your team, you are reinvigorating them to improve or find innovative solutions, which will drastically improve the chance to deliver newly-found value to your customer.

I encourage my team to share what they know and ask for advice from others too. It's amazing how much we can learn from different projects or teams. It's like gathering pieces from different puzzles to complete our own.
