I had a highly technical team once who's communication preferences were almost diametrically opposed to mine. We used the DISC tool to help us understand each others' preferences and how we could adapt to each other. It was really valuable in helping us all value our diversity and varied strengths

Unity of Command is one the very basic management principle & a leader is accountable for absence of it which might have led to conflicting work styles within the team. Hence the first thing to be established is a synchronised manager to reportee relationship thru unity of command. Once that is done then there could be many ways to foster collaboration and productivity (increased) viz., translating vision, mission into business plan and 100% aligning the team with it, breaking down the objectives into smaller but clear and concise tasks, ensuring individual role clarity through clear and transparent communication, leadership commitment to enable, empower and engage the team and lastly do robust review, track & monitor the progress.
