Teams typically understand the "what" a company is doing. The disconnect and lack of buy-in usually occurs at "why" - why is the company doing this, why now, why is it relevant to me, etc …. Connection to a company goal is strongest when it is personal and stems from a well understood need (i.e. a burning platform) . A leader's role is to be the bridge - dissect the strategic goals into the "why" that is relevant to the team AND translate the team's mission into the company's strategic goal. Success doing this leads to a strong, emotional connection to the company goal.

In my experience people feel disconnected and lack motivation when they do not have a clear understanding of how their individual work will contribute to the bigger picture. Breaking down a larger vision into smaller departmental and individual goals will help to bring everyone along with strategic initiatives. A great way to do this is to outline the vision or "North Star" and then collaboratively set out measurable goals and objectives with your team, with regular check ins on progress.

The disconnection on the strategic goal must be aligned as everyone plays a part in realising the strategic goal. Common reason for disconnect are lack of clear communication, not being transparent enough, Why are certain specific strategical goal are chosen, Honest opinion are not encouraged , resonance of the goal with the team . So alignment of the team can be done by - Clear and transparent communication - Encouraging people to speak up and ask question if they have doubts - Defining the team role as well as Individual roll in a team - Conflict management - How these benifits the organisation and the team growth - Providing regular constructive feedback

Lastly, provide consistent feedback and recognition to reinforce alignment and motivate the team.
