Maintaining your brand voice while keeping up with social media trends requires clarity and consistency. Start by crafting a detailed brand voice guide that outlines your key values, tone, and messaging. This becomes the blueprint for every post. Offer your team ongoing training so they understand how to apply this voice in different contexts, even as trends shift. Additionally, frequently reviewing content ensures that your voice remains consistent, no matter what trend you’re exploring.

Staying true to your brand voice while navigating social media trends is essential for authenticity. Here are some strategies we embrace: Define Your Brand Voice: Ensure the team understands the brand’s core values & tone. A clear style guide is super helpful! Regular Training: Keep the team updated on social media trends while reinforcing brand messaging through workshops & discussions. Encourage Creativity: Let team members experiment with trends, but remind them to filter their ideas through the brand voice. Collaborative Review: Use team brainstorming sessions to ensure everyone aligns with the messaging before launching content. Feedback Loop: Create a space for constructive feedback to maintain consistency while embracing innovation.

You have to be critical of trends. Often, brands will come to me because their social media is entirely unattached to the brand and what it does for consumers. They've typically had an employee or agency running their social media and jumping on trends to game the algorithm. But the posts are just copies of copies of copies. Nothing original or unique. On top of that, they aren't building a brand voice or telling a story - they are simply doing the flavour-of-the-month type of content. The first step is to establish goals and a clear social media strategy, including tone of voice and style. Next is to test content in this direction to find what works. And keep testing. Last step is to keep adapting and review the tone of voice.

To ensure my team stays true to our brand voice while navigating social media trends, I first establish clear guidelines that define our brand voice, tone, and messaging. These guidelines serve as a reference for the team when creating content. I encourage open communication and collaboration, allowing team members to share ideas while keeping our core values in mind. Regular training sessions can help the team understand how to adapt trends without compromising our voice. Additionally, I review and provide feedback on content before it goes live, ensuring it aligns with our brand identity. By fostering a culture of creativity within the framework of our brand voice, we can effectively engage with trends while remaining authentic.

To navigate social media trends while staying true to your brand voice, start by remembering that trends are tools, not the foundation. It’s about using trends when they align with your message, but not losing your brand’s identity in the process. Focus on building your own content that reflects your core values, then sprinkle in trends that enhance, not change, what you’re already doing. Like Gary Vee says, keep experimenting and adapting in real time, but always let your brand’s unique voice drive the conversation—not just what's trending that day. Stay consistent, keep it authentic, and the audience will follow.
