“Break the ice!” I find it helpful to engage in conversations beyond work by casually asking about their interests or hobbies outside the work hours. This not only creates a relaxed space where they feel comfortable sharing and builds rapport, but it also allows them to release stress, ultimately leading to improved focus and performance.

Sometimes a small gesture, like offering their favorite snack or a cup of coffee, can be a simple way to show empathy and brighten their day. It’s less about the treat itself and more about letting them know you’re there for support.

The first thing that I would do is to acknowledge how he/she feels. Being acknowledged is the crucial thing that is mostly missing in workplaces. Let them do the talking. Be an active listener. And provide advice or help when they ask for it.
