Assess his current status, what works and what doesn't and do a quick plan to address the gaps by offering him support (training, documentation, on-site working until accommodation to work remoteley, buddy coaching etc). Monitor the progress and provide constructive feedback.

To help a team member struggling with remote work tools, I would say it is important to ensure they have access to well-documented procedures with easy-to-follow steps. Break down each task in clear, simple language, supported by images and graphics to clarify complex processes. This makes the tools less intimidating and easier to understand. Provide hands-on training sessions and create a resource library they can refer to independently. Encourage open communication so they feel comfortable asking for help. Regular check-ins and feedback loops will ensure they gain confidence while using the tools effectively.

In my experience, taking the time to have a discussion about what the perceived challenges are (on an individual basis) will help provide information that will allow you to come up with the best plan to get the individual who is struggling motivated. I think that providing opportunities where it will prove to be rewarding to adapt to the new tools is also very important. Finally, create workgroups of people who can help each other as colleagues, and continue to listen and gather feedback about the challenges so that you can evolve together.

All personnel within the organization must understand the overall organizational strategy and, most importantly, their role in it, including the value of their contributions. The first objective is to understand the challenges from their perspective through a proper engagement meeting. This approach will help eliminate misunderstandings and address any emotions related to the issue at hand. Together, we will evaluate the effectiveness of available resources and make adjustments as needed. It is essential to secure a commitment from each individual to ensure they are capable of meeting expectations. Provide the necessary support, including training and regular feedback sessions, to assess performance and intervene when necessary.
