When a team member shuts down unconventional ideas, it’s usually fear of the unknown. What about it makes them deeply uncomfortable? The key is to identify the source of the resistance! I’ve learned that the fastest way to unlock their potential is by asking, 'What if this worked?' That one question shifts the mindset from rejection to curiosity. To coax creativity from my team, I create a safe space for unconventional ideas by implementing brainstorming sessions with no judgment. Techniques like "worst possible idea" can free minds and spark innovative thinking. I encourage diverse perspectives by inviting input from all team members, regardless of their role. Additionally, I promote experimentation by allocating time for side projects, allowing teams to explore passions that can lead to unexpected and creative solutions for our challenges.
