One thing I’ve found helpful is to assess the team. Determine who the experts are and encourage their input. Allow the team to openly discuss their ideas and conduct simulations. This will allow the team to build upon what is presented. At the same time it will also allow the team to strengthen their own weaknesses through practice and preparation.

As a leader you must first understand your team members strengths and work towards them. You must have thought about potential disasters that could happen in your region, and have a plan in writing for each. Your team members must know about any potential disasters and the plan that is in place for them. Hold drills so each member has some sort of muscle memory of what they have to do. Always be willing to evolve the plan to keep it current to changing equipment and abilities of the team. If for some reason plan A fails to work always have a backup plan and don't be afraid to use it or pivot if you need to. It is during these type of events that require out of the box thinking. show confidence and your team will act accordingly.
