I think it's best to analyze the requirements of the project and delegate them to those who's skills, interests and experience align with. In doing so, everyone contributes in their specialized ways towards achieving the overall project goals.

This is a common scenario when teams are divided into multiple projects approaches. But we need to keep reminding them about a common goal (The vision), no matter what project approach we are using we all are bind by the vision statement and we all are working for it.

More than active listening, I'd encourage both teams to defend the counter argument thoroughly as an assignment. This way, they will be obligated to deeply understand the reasoning behind the approach and usually, a combined approach comes out of this, taking into consideration the other's perspective. We are all naturally biased and see things from our own perspective carved by our personality and experiences. If we see our team members as complimentary, we can become a 360- degree team together. There's no "Know it all"

As leader/facilitator it's your job to eliminate the need to be right by modelling curiosity and asking for solutions (from everyone) that are clearly connected to the common objective. It's easier to establish compromise by substituting negative language like, "your idea won't work", with "that's an interesting option can you describe how it's connected to the objective"? This depersonalizes the idea/option and promotes objectivity. If all options are reviewed this way, compromise can become less personal, more respectful, and a better experience for everyone involved.
