When faced with differing perspectives on linguistic research theories, I believe in fostering a collaborative environment where everyone feels heard and valued. I would encourage open dialogue, active listening, and a willingness to consider multiple viewpoints. By respectfully discussing our differences, we can identify shared goals and explore potential areas of agreement. Ultimately, diverse perspectives can enrich our research and lead to more innovative solutions. This collaboration can lead us to empirical evidence and rigorous analysis to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different theories. This evidence-based approach can help us reach a consensus that is grounded in objective facts rather than subjective opinions.

The nature and objectives of the linguistic research are key to determining the methodology to be adopted. Generally speaking, research methods can be quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods. For research projects that have as goal to explore theories, a qualitative approach is generally opted for. However, when exploring the validity of theories or hypotheses, a quantitative method is chosen. Mixed methods are needed for projects that combine exploration and evaluation of theses and hypotheses. This is of course a basic and theoretical categorisation of research types and the methods that best help achieve their objectives. You simply have to explain these basic rules and divise selection criteria so that everyone is convinced.

If I am in a research group with different opinions about linguistic research, I try to start by encouraging everyone to talk openly about their ideas. I make sure everyone listens to each other without judging. Then, we try to find shared goals or similar ideas within the different perspectives. By focusing on the points we agree on, we can blend the various approaches and come up with a solution that works for everyone. This way, we can collaborate better and make our research stronger.

research is just a matter of finding factual evidence to explain something existing or not. discovering something new and innovating an existing concept. there is no reason to argue about linguistic research theories, both parties are good and essential. useful and meaningful

while I was conducting a linguistic research and my team members are having diverse opinions I would follow few steps First , I will listen to everyone’s opinion and ways of solution for that problem. Then I will tell someone to take notes of everyone’s opinion and I will conduct quantitative research approaches to count the numbers of common opinions and I will try to present the data in front the team members and ask their opinion about selecting the majority’s suggestions and then I will assign different part of tasks to different members and work accordingly to accomplish my goal .
