Your production schedule is at risk due to maintenance team repairs. How will you manage the disruption?

It's important to evaluate the risks involving the decision to delay maintenance tasks. The first rule for operations should be "Safety in first place" so if the repairs needed are related to great risk exposure and high potencial accident I would stop operation and organize the maintenance stop so the repair is planned and executed with quality but also quickly and only then study and carry to other month the production demand. Last but not least by understanding the risks and the situation we can take mitigative actions and produce until the moment that we can have a "opportunity stop". It is very important to compare and analyze current state and exercise the future view in this situations.

If maintenance has to be done to interrupt production then the maintenance itself must be planned carefully down to the last spare part, tooling and personal requirement so that once initiated the task has minimal impact to production.

If personnel are available and the production task can be done manually I would then make this suggestion to management. I would then proceed if given the go ahead. IF personnel are not available. I would determine the priority of repairs or other solutions such as a change in production schedule, what product has priority over another. Can this be something that can be rescheduled and production personnel can be reasigned to other tasks and such. I would then give my findings to management and await their reply.

This has variables. Depending on whether you have multiple lines of production and multiple maintenance teams for these lines if so I would pull some maintenance personnel from their duties to help with the repairs at hand leaving some to observe and maintain the other lines . At all times being in communication with the maintenance team , production team and management.
