On of the steps I have found useful in building a personal brand are these 7 steps, I call Personal Brand Scope: 1. Determine the industry or profession you want to attract: Niche 2. Determine who your audience are? Who in that niche do you want to consistently target? 3. What is your brand identity? What physical and emotional elements describe your brand? 4. Vision: what is your mental picture of the future outcome of developing your brand? 5. Mission: how do you want to reach your vision? 6. Brand Statement: What makes you standout from people doing similar things to what you offer? 7. Measurement: What is your definition of success and how do you measure it? Carefully going through these 7 steps will bring clarity and perspective.
Begin by understanding their strengths, weaknesses, passions, and goals. Evaluate their online presence, including social media profiles and any existing content. Identify what sets them apart and areas needing improvement.

Gauging the Authentic Quotient of mentee's Aspirations is the starting point. Understanding and Establishing the linkages between the aspirational Brand and core Value system is the most important element. This would ensure high probability of Action and Satisfaction over a period of time.
One thing that has worked well for me is to ask questions and understand my mentee's journey, story, values and principles and use the storytelling framework - The Hero's Journey. With that, we design a powerful story that captures people and showcases my mentee's strengths and uniqueness. Then, we design a copy for social media (e.g. Linkedin's About section) and we also create several versions to answer the 'Tell me about yourself' question to different people he/she interacts frequently. Having an integrated story makes it easier for people to remember and keep her/him top of mind.
Develop a clear roadmap outlining specific goals, target audience, key messages, and platforms to focus on. Define content themes and posting schedules to maintain consistency. Set measurable objectives to track progress and adjust the plan accordingly.

I think that proving to them the upsides is really the best way to help them grow. Also - if you can, help them with things like headshots, banners, profile optimization - things that make them proud of their profile!
