In a situation like this, it’s first important to consider whether the request for additional compensation is valid. If yes, and marketing budgets are tight, it might be worthwhile considering if there are other ways you can compensate your influencer such as free products/services or discounts. Or, if your marketing budget allows, consider fulfilling their request for a payment increase in a way that also aligns with your marketing budget and negotiate on this. If your influencer is requesting too much of an increase - or the request is deemed unreasonable - and you are unable to fulfil their request and provide compensation they are happy with, then perhaps it’s also time to consider looking at influencers with a lower charge rate.

To navigate influencer demands on a tight budget: Negotiate Value: Offer product perks, long-term partnerships, or exclusive experiences instead of high fees. Micro-Influencers: Work with smaller influencers who deliver high engagement at lower costs. Performance-Based: Propose pay based on content performance (e.g., views, clicks, sales). Creative Collaboration: Co-create content that aligns with their style but also meets your marketing goals. Leverage Barter: Exchange services or products instead of money for promotion.
