First Step is to understand priority and second to understand timelines. To have better software hardware must be upgraded first while u can still continue to use dev environment for development. Give good amount of time on QA testing after upgrade. You must communicate clearly to both the teams with stakeholders on timelines to make it smooth transition

From this, the ingredient-level (HW, FW, SW) prioritization and alignment can be further derived. Conflicts in timelines and priorities between ingredients (HW/FW/SW) can only be resolved when all parties jointly understand and focus on the project priorities.

What needs to be understood is the difference in timing between hardware and software sprints. Hardware sprints tend to be 3-4 months. Software sprints tend to be 1-4 weeks. Projects run smoother when teams understand and accommodate this difference.

When you are designing hardware for a new product, assume there are going to be multiple revisions. Build the first revision as soon as possible. Maybe it doesn't have all the peripherals yet. Maybe it doesn't have the power supply circuit built in. You can run it from a bench power supply. It can be twice the size of the final product. You can shrink it later. Build something that the software team can start downloading code into. They can initialize and test the peripherals that you do have. Be sure to have a serial port that the software can use for diagnostics, even if it is just 2 pins on a header. Marketing team is going to want to see the display. They do not know what they do not like until they see it.
