Trust is THE bridge. Without it, we only have a power struggle. Clear communications and pretty charters will not compensate for a lack of trust. Without authenticity and empathy no one can understand each other’s logic or motives. Many avoid the tough, exposing conversations as a defence and default to dominance or secrecy. Imagine openly discussing budget cuts, market shifts, or staff shortages with partners or even competitors - crazy right? eg. I helped a team worried about losing staff to partners. We fixed it, and now, 8 years later, those former adversaries share talent and resources, turning fear into a sustainable advantage. When you unpack real pressures with empathy, you create mutual trust and lasting partnerships.

As the first step to easing the communication gap between your executive team and the partners, you have to arrange a joint meeting where both the partners and your executive team will talk about their worries and objectives. Practice active listening and make sure that everyone speaks. Define goals and expectations from both sides. Moreover, it is recommended to set up communication channels to avoid the delay in problem-solving and avoid misunderstandings. A word of caution, using a mediator is recommended to calm a tumultuous discussion. They can help ensure conflicts within the partnership are solvable and a healthy relationship can be maintained between the two.

Clarity. At the very core as leader and / or member of executive team your job is to provide clarity. When there is no clarity, chaos reigns. This case is one of the common outcomes of lack clarity. So create more opportunities for direct engagement, improve communication and build a shared understanding. So one word to always remember: Clarity!
