Retreats in my experience can be super effective if planned out and facilitated effectively. This said, in my experience, you need to make sure that the setting, the type of challenges and tasks and interactions are planned in a way that cater to different needs, styles and developments stages. If working with members of one team, trust building action is absolutely essential.

There are two major traits that make the leaders stand out of the crowd of good specialists and these are confidence and ease of communication. If you manage to master these two, you are half way through on the upwards going ladder.

From my experience, my superior send to as her representative for the important meeting, site visit and include me in few training or workshop which I think works for me.
