I would recommend 1-2 updates per year of the whole system.

Make sure that you task a professional service with attacking your site and finding "holes". Everything else will not really help, its the "basics" but if someone is targeting you, all of that will be no real help. I would also recommend to avoid "unnecessary" data at all!
