Your client won't wear protective gear on site visits. How do you ensure their safety in high-risk areas?
When a client refuses to wear protective gear on-site, you're facing a significant safety challenge. Implement these strategies to mitigate risks:
- Establish clear safety protocols. Explain the risks and legal implications associated with not wearing protective gear.
- Provide alternative options. Offer different types of protective equipment to ensure comfort and compliance.
- Enforce a mandatory policy. Make gear-wearing non-negotiable for site entry to maintain safety standards.

If a client won't wear PPE on site visits there will be no site visits. This is not a topic for discussion no matter who you are, PPE and the SSOW are in place for a reason.

If a client refuses to wear protective gear (PPE), start by explaining the risks and why safety protocols exist, for their protection and everyone on-site. Offer alternative solutions, like a guided tour from safe areas or viewing high-risk zones remotely. Reinforce that safety is a shared responsibility, and compliance is non-negotiable in hazardous environments. "Safety isn’t optional... it's the foundation that keeps progress moving forward, one protected step at a time." Wishing everyone a safe, productive, and positive Sunday! Chris Clevenger

When a client refuses to wear the required PPE, I would advise the client that he cannot visit any high risk areas without PPE. If he still insists and refuses, I would recommend that we can arrange virtual remote inspection/Audit/visit to the areas where the client wishes to visit from our office. As simple as that.

I prioritize their safety by restricting access to hazardous zones, offering safe observation points, and clearly communicating risks. Educating clients on the importance of PPE, while providing alternative safety measures, helps reinforce a culture of safety without compromising relationships.
