I will share success stories. This is important to establish credibility. In particular, I tell them about clients who have achieved their goals through coaching, highlighting similar challenges and how coaching made a difference. Next, I will talk about the process. It is important to explain how coaching provides structure, accountability and personalized strategies tailored to their unique needs. Lastly, I will show immediate benefits. Example: I will focus on the quick wins they can expect, like increased clarity or motivation after just a few sessions. The mindset of most clients is they want to see results fast - so show them the lower hanging fruits first.

If the existing client questions the effectiveness of the coaching, then there is a problem. In most cases, this is possible when setting a goal, which must be precise and measurable, the progress is constantly monitored by both the coach and the client, and together they monitor the movement towards the goal. If a prospective client questions the effectiveness of coaching, we can provide references about which of our clients achieved what (of course with appropriate confidentiality), this could be a feedback video or a written message about their own coaching process. The prospective client has the opportunity to try coaching, this helps to decide whether the chemistry with the given coach works, whether they can work together.

When a client questions coaching’s effectiveness, it’s time to shift the focus to tangible results. I start by revisiting their initial goals and reflecting on any progress made so far, highlighting even small wins they might overlook. Then, I share success stories or case studies from similar clients, showing how coaching has transformed others with similar challenges. Lastly, I ask them to imagine the alternative—what staying in the current situation might look like without a structured plan or support. It’s all about connecting the dots between coaching and their ultimate vision!

I have an issue with convincing the client. If they're ready, they're ready. If they're not ready, they're not ready. The client and the coach are co-creating solutions to meet their needs.
