Questions are an integral part of any presentation; they can be a sign of interest, curiosity, or skepticism from your audience, or an opportunity to clarify, elaborate, or reinforce your message. To effectively handle questions, you should first prepare by anticipating the most likely or difficult questions and preparing answers in advance. Utilize facts, examples, or stories to support your answers and have a backup plan if you don't know the answer or run out of time. Secondly, listen carefully and attentively to the questions and show respect and appreciation to the questioner. Repeat or rephrase the question to check for understanding and avoid interrupting, arguing, or dismissing the questions. Lastly, answer the questions briefly, clearly, and confidently; use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers and relate them to your main message and purpose. If you don't know the answer to a question admit it and offer to follow up later; if you run out of time offer to answer remaining questions offline or via email.
