This depends on the type of organization. Not every leadership structure has an entrepreneurial mindset. Some have a corporate hierarchical mindset. Being entrepreneurial and showing initiative are two different things. In a clearly defined organization what we often think of as a "silo" organization showing initiative within your divisions is often rewarded. A founder aka entrepreneur-based one will be more likely to welcome an entrepreneurial mindset across the board. The culture often informs individuals as to what is rewarded. Volunteering to improve the culture by helping others feel happy or being a brand ambassador are great ideas. Establishing your personal brand as an expert will probably be the best way to gain credibility.

I think it's important to know what stage the business is in to assess the right path forward. From experience, promotions may not be available at that point in time due to how early stage the business may be. The concern may be paying people on time, versus giving out promotions. As always, it comes down to wearing many hats in an entrepreneurial environment, and being willing to go above and beyond your typical goals and objectives. Leadership and accountability go a long way as well. My advice: equity over job titles/promotions will better serve you in the long run.

I feel bad continuously adding this but an entrepreneur does not have a direct boss and they are not looking to showcase their value to their boss. Entrepreneur need to showcase their skill VC/Angels/PE, new clients, and their employees. I believe, as an entrepreneur that you should embody innovation, collaborations, diversity and social responsibility but this needs to be done to the right people. Give support to others and mentor them but remember you are holding the bag at the end of the day. Only seek top notch talent that can help your business grow. In my experience, to enhance your chances of getting a promotion in entrepreneurship, actively take on leadership roles, innovate within your position, consistently achieve and surpass your goals, foster teamwork and collaboration, build a robust professional network, stay adaptable and keen to learn, positively influence the company culture, communicate your achievements and ideas clearly, actively seek and apply feedback, and ensure your personal career objectives support the company's strategic direction. These actions will highlight your value and readiness for a more significant role.

Go out on your own and take all the risk for an unsure future. 3. Most entrepreneurs that are really trying to grow work 120 hours per week so don't expect to start at 9AM and be off at 5PM---they work weekends too. 4.
