You create a space for yourself , you get to know your strengths and at times writing do help to give solutions to your self doubt . Broadening your knowledge. When one becomes a leader, trainings on what a leader does is provided as part of onboarding. Yet, a very limited to no training is provided on how to be leader. Writing has played an important role for me in this aspect, as I used to write feedbacks and perspective of other leaders that could be helpful to me. Writing short notes provided me with valuable lessons that I could not have achieved in any form of education, due to the reason, I was getting first - hand ideas from leaders of all levels. By writing ideas down in my book, the ideas got imprinted in my head and the knowledge retention lasted longer than any other forms of learning techniques.

In my experience, To hone leadership through writing: Reflect on past experiences: Analyzing your decisions and emotions. Did you inspire/empower others? Set goals and track progress: Write SMART goals for improvement (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and track your progress. Seek feedback: Ask trusted colleagues for feedback on your leadership style, then reflect on their observations and areas for improvement. Read and learn: Devour leadership books and articles, taking notes and reflecting on their insights. Can you apply these learnings in your context? Create a leadership vision: Write down your vision for yourself as a leader, outlining your values, approach, and aspirations.

A great leader must have some stories which eventually create followers! Stories that portrait his capabilities, success, struggles & hardens. And there left no alternatives than writing or showcasing in front of the public. So, write something remarkable!

Writing enabled you to build your narrative and your voice! It amplifies the message you want to put across and builds authority in your field of work.

Invite: Read up the Broken Windows Theory; apply it to your organization's context. Pick up something that needs attention, needs fixing. Write about it and see how far you are able to influence others to action, through your writing. Journal: The next time you are feeling inspired, angry, sad or any intense feeling, write whatever comes to you. When the feeling ebbs, stop writing. Don't read it straight away. Go back to it after a week. It may startle you, maybe urge you in a certain direction, settle a matter for you - I don't know. Try it, see for yourself.. Finally, when writing for others check - is it succinct, interesting, offers food for thought. Is there an invitation to others to join the creative process? Keep at it! BOL

Recently I provided consultation to an organization in regards to developing the organizations 3 - year strategic plan. To showcase my abilities in the field I had to develop my writing skills. By doing so, writing provided me with the opportunity to express my ideas more vividly. This in return showed the stakeholders that I was well thought - out and organized. As my writing provided pathways to ideas without any ambiguity. Such acts elevate one's credibility and demonstrates expertise In that particular field.

I feel its a constant learning process. Regularly recalling and writing about leadership experiences, challenges, and decisions encourages self-reflection. Knowing that can build rapport in the same way we do when we talk to each other.
