Gamification is powerful for engagement in part because it focuses it shifts the focus from content-centric to employee-centric. Just as no game ever played itself, no learning happens without the person's active participation. Good gameful design will keep people engaged by leveraging the types of elements that will motivate them and will generally include multiple gameful elements since each person is motivated differently.
