You want to become an Agile Methodologies expert. What’s the best way to get certified?

Although certifications are often requested by employers, be aware that they only approve knowledge. However, in e.g., product development knowledge gets you only that far. Instead, success factors are skills, experience, and both the willingness and capability to learn continously. So for all - employers, clients, and employees - a focus on certified knowledge is less important than you might think when it comes to making an endeavor successful.

A certification provides validation for your acquired skills. But it's not useful if you don't practice and utilize the skills acquired with the certification. It supplements your skills in Agile. Also, consider attaining other related certifications and knowledge for a well-rounded understanding.

The IT market is usually under pressure for growing, innovate and keep business running in a fast manner, and for this, employees are usually incentivized to get certification like scrum master(CSM), (PSM), XP or Agile development of apps which will show you how to be efficient and agile while developing a new app.

Becoming certified does not make you an agile methodologies expert. The whole question and how it's phrased is illogical and illustrates why agile is in a bad place right now. Focus on learning and practicing core elements. Reflect adapt and go again until eventually it makes sense and you understand not only the practices but the rationale. To me, PMI-ACP certification is very strategic, as we learn various agile practices (XP, Scrum, TDD, Kanban, etc.) As a result, it would be a very huge advantage to learn each agile practice and get the certification. After having PMI-ACP, it would not be difficult to get others certification. At least from my own experience, I learn less no more than a few days to get PSM 1 and PSM 2 certification. I may not have experiences on other certification, but I assume it would be pretty much the same from what I heard.

Certifications definitely help you get the interview as HR will have a look at these and they'll get the impression that you are serious about the profession BUT experience trumps all. It's probably better to show off how much you've reduced cycle time, increased velocity, deliver more value etc..

Experience beats certification. Every time. But if you must, I would strongly suggest to become a Flow Certified Resource (FCR). Or alternatively, make up your own certification. There are so many, nobody will notice. Don't forget to make up a decent 3 or 4 character acronym, as the other certification factories do.

First of all, one has to understand why you want to you become agile expert. Also the agile area is so vast, one has to understand what role they want to play in agile. When your career path is defined, go for some good certification or trainings that will help you get the deeper knowledge in Agile.
