Trust, being the key piece here. Without a trusted relationship, it's really hard to keep others engaged and onboard with the change, especially when there is so much change happening all around us every day. Being able to communicate the WIIFM (what's in it for me) is a way to show that you understand your audience and what is important to them. Listening to and applying feedback is another way to help gain trust. Including end users in the solution co-creation is another.

Resistance is a natural and inevitable response to change, but it can also be a major obstacle for change management leadership. You need to anticipate and manage resistance effectively, by understanding its sources, signs, and impacts. Change measurement is a piece here that is not included. It's important to measure how the change is being rolled out to increase adoption of the change. Track against your targets and outcomes to ensure you're achieving success. You can't monitor what isn't measured and what gets measured gets managed (adapted from Peter Drucker).

You need to develop yourself continuously, by seeking and applying new knowledge, insights, and best practices. You also need to reflect and improve your own performance, by seeking and accepting feedback, coaching, and mentoring. You also need to challenge and stretch yourself, by taking on new and diverse change projects, roles, and responsibilities. A personal development plan can help you identify your learning goals, actions, and resources, and measure your progress and achievements.
