Whatever project management software you choose, make sure that it integrates with your accounting software. Better yet, choose an integrated PM/Accounting software that does it all in one tool. At minimum, ensure the two talk to each other and agree. Otherwise, you're not going to get the value you desire out of your PM software because it won't be accurate.

If I wanna track a construction project that I'm involved in, I get in my car and drive over and check it out. And if it's in another country, I have someone checking it out. Forget software. Ask first what your end goal is and what your needs may be in a few years. Some solutions are great for a season, but then you outgrow them. If you can look ahead and somewhat predict your needs in the next few years in terms of where you want the company to go, you can make a better choice for this and avoid the costly (both monetarily and time wise), but sometimes necessary step of changing softwares for project management. Personally I have found success with Smartsheet- it gives many options with forms, automations, reminders and templates. Scheduling a construction project is complicated. There are many activities and parallel paths that have to be identified and linked. You need actual CPM scheduling software to create a master schedule with all of the linked and parallel activities identified, along with the critical path. P6 and Microsoft Project both fill this need. From there, you need to pull plan from milestones on the CPM schedule to create a shorter term schedule with actual durations, daily commitments, and potential constraints. The results from this pull plan schedule need to go back into the CPM schedule to see the effect on the overall project. Pick software that supports your methods and workflows.

Field crew leaders will not search for an RFI they don't even know exists, but if it is dropped right on the digital drawings they have to reference to plan their work, it will be right in front of them.
