I don’t think this section really gets the right thought process across. While I fundamentally agree with all ideas here, as considered in a vacuum, the presentation is a little off. You first need to classify the system you want to model/simulate: is it stochastic/deterministic?, does it follow a stochastic process?, is it discrete time or continuous? and so on… Then you consider possible methods that either simulate the system exactly or approximately (e.g. use discrete-time based methods to approximate continuous systems) - here you’d need to consider trade-offs. Case in point, you’d never (almost anyway) use Monte Carlo simulations to simulate a deterministic system.
