When you are working on any project designing and planning. You create its visual representation which is 3 dimensional view that can show you how your project will look like. Also it is very essential nowadays to create 3D models of anything you are working on so you can change, modify, get 2D output and production files can be created using such 3D models.

It is a 3d representation of designs. It is the optimal way to present work to all the stakeholders of a project since it is the most understandable by the masses and the easiest to visualize. In architecture, it also adds several dimensions to the design stage, including seamless collaborations between multidisciplinary teams, simulations, and of course, stunning visuals!

I feel blender is quite powerful enough to be used for Industry specific requirements. Especially with the addition of geometry nodes it can contribute alot in environment design workflow.

We have BIM 3D software and we have General purpose 3D software... Amazingly I fall into both categories. BIM is mostly found in the architectural, engineering, and manufacturing industries, where optimum precision and collaboration are needed for their success e.g. Revit, Fusion 360, Rhino e.t.c On the flip side, we have a set of 3D packages that offer bigger and more flexible workspaces for diverse purposes commonly used in the design and entertainment industry e.g. Blender, Houdini etc

For me blender is well maintained and can be customisable if you needed specific domain only. It is open source as well as it has simple learning curve.

For architecture modelling, 1. SketchUp - easy to use 2. Rhino - complex but reliable for complex modelling 3. Revit - need to understand basics, best for long run... Especially for architecture domain. Other known, Blender, Maya etc

I know some of the most widely used civil engineering 3D software which are Autodesk autocad, staad pro, 3D Max, Tekla, SDS2 & BIM software etc.

It is nice to have multiple app skills, because if you know how to model, you will need one step back to learn the modelling software and start modelling with your own skill. In case that is your personal project you should have the experience to decide, but if it is a team project you should see industry compatible apps always to avoid futuristic problems in importing and exporting.

Heres the procedure to choose 3d modelling software that i follow according to the situations, time constrains, quality aspects in mind 1.For architecture 2d+3d visualization quick work higher quality + good client budget ill go Revit for modelling+Unreal engine for rendering & final visualization.Because in this case im good at the particular combination which saves clients time+provide the best quality in the market 2.For architecture 2d+3d visualization with smaller client having a little budget & ample time, will go for AutoCAD for planning SketchUp for modelling & twinmotion/lumion for renders. 3.For game art model & visualization i might go for blender/3ds max for modelling & unreal engine because proficiency for work quality

Best 3d modelling software is highly debatable topic because every software has its pros and cons. For example SketchUp is easy to use but not reliable as rhino. Rhino is most used for complex Modelling, we can also say most modern offices require rhino modeller

Personally, I use Revit because of how amazing it is for every modelling and management task I require, I use Lumion to render my views and videos, and Photoshop along with Premiere Pro to touch up and edit my renders. I am currently exploring the world of Parametric Architecture in Revit's Dynamo.

For props modeling I use blender3d because it’s free and has a good community and free resources for learning. This can also be done with maya and 3ds max. I texture with substance painter and render in unreal engine to take advantage of real time lighting

Use modifiers to save time. In blender there's a Quick Favourite tab where you can add everything that you use repetitively. This way you don't have to find the options that you use repetitively in your modeling process.

In my experience, trying some thing basic is not enough to maximize your skills growth, in fact setting a complex project to do is way much better since you will learn trough the prosses of creating which may more practical.

One of the useful things that can be done for better and faster modeling is, in the first step, to fully understand the relevant software, use its shortcuts and plugins, which improve the process of doing the work.

1) Know your software potential in depth. 2) Practice as much as you can. 3) Create your own toolbar and configuration shortcuts for fast modeling. 4) Use hidden tricks for checking the correctness of the model. 5) Keep yourself up to date with updated versions of the software.

Before we begin 3D modeling, it is better to sketch from various perspectives in our head or on paper, which can help us model faster. We can turn 3D views into 2D views. Next item Concentrate on the shape and size of your model before adding details. Use basic shapes and objects to create the general shape and mark the main elements. Look at your model from different angles and use sources to make sure it is realistic and precise.

Designing a 3D model involves various tools, and the choice depends on factors such as the complexity of the project, your familiarity with the software, and the specific requirements of your client. If you are vast already in 3d softwares, then you would already know what each software is best at. In this case, the software you would use would be based on which can get the client's work done on time and seamlessly. In the case where you are a beginner, you can just do a quick or light research on which 3c software can help you meet the task. If you're a beginner but already conversant with one or two 3d softwares, it's best you find out how to get the tasks done with the softwares you are already conversant with. For this, you can ask a mentor, or watch videos on YouTube, or get a course on it as soon as possible.
