Before sitting on my laptop at the very beginning of the project, I draw my rough ideas on Procreate. It's also good to start by sketching on paper. You can definitely try different things like shapes, symbols, and colours. And don't worry about making mistakes. You can easily fix them later :)

Adobe illustrator is the go-to choice of software for me when it comes to logo design, however Figma’s vector based tools are becoming sufficient as the software matures. The purpose of this phase is iterative high-fidelity refinement. Digitising my sketches and experimenting more with basic shapes and measurements to create more complex visuals. I like to treat any design as a water colour painting, adding more and more detail in waves until the design is complete. With each wave you focus purely on that level of fidelity and progressively get more granular as you move forward. CorelDraw is my go-to for any logo design. I have tried various other software through the years but the simplicity of Corel wins out every time. I like the combination of modeling tools and adding vector points to create shapes and the Font tools are intuitive. If it looks good in black and white it will work anywhere!

I find Adobe Illustrator to be an essential tool in my design work. Its precision with vector graphics is unmatched, allowing me to scale my creations without losing quality. For any serious designer, Illustrator is my top recommendation.
