A small business offering that I worked with in past once fell victim to a ransomware attack. The company had neglected regular software updates, leaving its systems vulnerable. Hackers exploited this vulnerability, locking down all files and demanding a hefty ransom to unlock them. With no recent backups and outdated security, the company had to pay the ransom to regain access. This situation underscored the importance of keeping systems updated to prevent such costly breaches.
