Managing team motivation is always critical for any organization or industry per say. There should be a sense of achievement and belonging among team members. It is not only the pay rise but also a pat on the back or a customized message as an appreciation of a good work helps the motivation.

Team motivation is a crucial factor for any organization. The entire productivity can drop if we don't keep our momentum high. Here are a few steps that we can use to motivate the team consistently: 1. Motivation is like a bath; it can give you a fresh feeling for a day only. Therefore, motivation is overrated; discipline is underrated. We should focus on discipline. 2. Discipline gives us freedom, and your workflow will increase as we won't need to think about when we need to start; the process will remind you of everything. 3. We need to show the growth plan to everyone; else, motivation dies. 4. Everyone should involve themselves fully in the work. Sometimes, an interesting task can engage people and encourage them to give their best.

Each Individual is unique and best at his/her true potential. Hence motivation is bound to be different in most of the cases. ?? But often we make the mistake of confusing motivations with incentives (generally monetary). ?? Reality is management is nothing beyond people, and people who are highly contribution motivated at work directly or indirectly help the organization in a long way... It is critical because all other conditions remaining same the motivated team will produce better results with less supervision compared to non motivated team. Many a times motivating and keeping the team charged up will never cost you anything and can deliver magical results.

In my experience, it can be an indicator of the employee’s desire to contribute to a company’s vision or purpose. That buy-in leads to work satisfaction which fosters their individual growth and enhances retention. As well, in larger organizations, there is often change and knowing that team motivation is high or low can indicate that team’s ability to react positively or negatively towards that.

It is only a motivated team that will stand by you as a leader and help you and your team achieve the goals and even go the extra mile if required. In simple words a highly motivated team does not really need to be managed, they will deliver what is required and beyond.

They're great for getting a broad sense of where everyone's at in terms of motivation. Digging Deeper with Discussions: For the nitty-gritty, I turn to interviews or focus groups. These conversations allow me to delve deeper, understanding the 'why' behind the team's motivation levels. Observation in Action: Nothing beats seeing things in real-time. I keep an eye out for signs of engagement – who's taking initiative, who's getting creative, and how well they're collaborating and achieving. It's about reading the room and connecting the dots.

An indicator that is frequently overlooked in this context is quality and quantity of work output. Faltering output, especially with top performers, is a clear indication of motivation failing or at least an indication that a motivation survey or action is needed. I found that regular 1:1 conversations with the team are an exquisite motivation indicator but if that is not feasible due to time/other constraints I've seen good results with random written (anonymous) surveying. For a low motivation environment anonymous surveying may be preferable as employees often wont open up directly to a leader especially if motivation/engagement needs some work.

1:1s are a great way to assess team motivation. Weekly 1:1s with individuals and daily check-ins with teams are ideal. It is also key to create a safe space in these meetings where feedback is a 2 way streak. The more involved the managers are, the more involved the team will be.
