Which supplier diversity certification programs are recognized industry-wide?

This is a great certification to have. Showing that your company is culturally minority certified helps larger organizations that NMSDC is partnering with reach their diversity goals for being a great community diversity partner ??. This certification also helps to narrow everyone bidding on a contract that is deemed as a culturally minority business. To help the process flow smoother the organization has different regions for the business to apply to. ??There are similar certifications I have researched in the UK, Canada, and South Africa.

The WBENC is a certification that is great for women-owned businesses ????????????. Like the NMSDC they get contracts that are from organizations that are looking to meet their diversity goals. The other great thing about this organization is that can also help women get their federal Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Certification/program. This is very beneficial for obtaining both corporate and government contracts. Like the NMSDC there are similar programs offered globally ?? within the UK and Canada with similar qualifications and processes.

VBE, VOSB, and SDVOSB are so beneficial for veterans to become successful businesses. Even though the majority of states do not have an eligible Veteran Business Enterprise program, they will honor the SD/VOSB certification to show their appreciation for their service to the country. During my research, I found that there are many requests for a small business that holds this certification within the federal contracts. My ??call-to-action to all veterans is to get certified to get BIG and quality contracts.

Having the certification opens up new possibilities. When I used have the cleaning business I considered getting the 8a because of huge opportunities for government contracts.

This process is a bit long so it is important to have everything in place before applying. The program only last 9 years and it is most beneficial with the assistance of a mentor who has worked with large contracts before. This mentor/mentee relationship is a win-win for both parties involved. For the 8 (a) mentee they have the opportunity to extend their revenue goals and get the help and experience of their mentor. The mentor receives revenue from the contracts ??, helps the smaller business grow without all the same struggles, and is part of a great innovative process.

There are a lot ??of minority certifications available for small businesses to obtain. During my research, I found that the state of Ohio honors 13+ certifications. This is a combination of council certifications along with local, regional, state, and federal certifications. ??The most common ones I have seen nationally are SBE, DBE, ACDBE, WBE(government), WBE(WBNEC), MBE(government), MBE(NMSDC), MWBE, EDWOSB, WOSB, SDVOSB, VOSB, VBE, 8(a), GSA. Of course, these are not all of them. Having the opportunity to be ??certified from the East Coast to the West Coast From the North to South I would encourage that if you are a small business then ??GET CERTIFIED!
