In my experience, scale for a Non-profit is a subjective term and should be defined by what their vision is, is it the number of people being impacted, is it being available in more geographies, is it building more partnerships, is it empowering more and more of other social impact leaders etc. Once that is defined, one needs build a model which is replicable with least possible changes and least possible impact and quality loss. Then you define what do you need to get to the scale in terms of finances, resources, market connections etc.

Do you already have strong product-market fit with at least one of your current products/ services? Is it profitable? Do you and your team have the capacity to take on a large, long-term project that may not generate revenue for some time, and may even have the opposite impact? Can you access the capital necessary to scale? Will scaling positively influence your impact strategy? If you answered "yes" to all of these questions, you'd be crazy not to consider scaling! Not different to a for profit - you are ready to scale once you found your "market fit". That means you need to have evidence that: 1/ you are solving a real problem people are experiencing, 2/ people are interested in your solution, and 3/ it is more cost-effective then alternatives When you got all 3 - it is time it scale!

O debate de escala é longo e denso no setor, mas é importante considerar que nem sempre a ideia de escala como crescimento (expans?o) é o mais interessante ou o único caminho a seguir. Há vários exemplos de empreendedores sociais que tem optado por aprofundar seus impactos junto a territórios e a comunidades (escala numa lógica de aprofundamento de rela??es e de impacto), do que em expandir/crescer sua opera??o. Que bom que há outras formas de se pensar e praticar escala.
