I think one of the easiest and proven ways to get welcomed easily in any country is through common interest in food , drinks and pop culture. During my work experience in the UK, I noticed that dining and drinking exercises made locals accept you faster than the speed of light! So did a common interest in music and sports. One wine & dine session would kickstart several potluck invitations where cultural barriers were forgotten and people opened up to you very easily. We also need to thank social media which is a communication starter nowadays. I still keep in touch with my ex colleagues in the UK through them.
