What's the best way to deliver your training and development plan?

Start with WHY. It is very important to understand, why employee need training? Why organization asking for training? and the next step should be, what type of training they need, is it skill training, an awareness, refresher OR do trainer need to target the behavioral issue during the training. Start with, why training needed? Why there is a gap? How can we address this gap? Plan training, conduct and assess the knowledge again. As a trainer, I encountered where employee have skill set, awareness of job, still they make mistake. And the main reason of those mistake is ignorance.

We've found that pouring energy into the analysis at this point pays the largest dividend. Fight for the time to review data, interview end users, talk with front-line managers, align with leadership and be intentional. Ensure the overall narrative of your training plan satisfies organizational and individual needs and that you get strong buy in. Charging ahead to picking out tech stack and designing sessions is destined to go off track.

The training process typically involves several stages designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to perform their roles effectively, so, we need to start by assessing the needs to Identify the specific skills, knowledge, and competencies that individuals or teams need to acquire. I first ask: What is the outcome you want to achieve? Then you look at the capabilities of your organization and build out a plan based on skill gaps and needs assessment.

Each and every facilitator will have their own way to deliver a program and check on development plans too however for me it is more to do with understanding the audience, connect through experiential learning and reflect -definitely helps in the development process

A Training and Development Plan is purely organization specific. Firstly its important to understand the vision of the organization from the Top Management followed by the Leadership Team. Accordingly a Training Need Analysis (TNA) needs to be done with the employees identified by the Management and also with those key people who are able to identify the Pain points and are decision makers. After the TNA which includes a dipstick, we are in a position to design a training and Development plan as per the employees, their designations, roles and actions. The TNA also helps us to identify the Red flags if any; which helps the organizations to take suitable actionables. Effectiveness of Training can also be determined by the ROI.

In my experience, to effectively deliver a training and development plan, the design of your content must be top-notch and tailored to the needs of your workforce. KPI is the most important part of measuring the effectiveness of the training. What is the outcome you want to achieve and are your KPI's tied to the specific outcome. Example: If you want to generate more leads in SFDC your KPI's post training should be tied to leads in SFDC.

In this part, it is important to gather feedback from participants to understand what worked well and what could be improved. Evaluate the effectiveness of the training based on the predefined objectives.

In this part and based on feedback and assessment results, make any necessary adjustments to the training program. This might involve revising content, modifying activities, or changing delivery methods and next to this point it is important to provide resources or ongoing support for participants to continue their learning after the formal training has concluded. This could include access to reference materials, mentoring, or further opportunities for skill development.

Training must have a value, to the business and the employee. Speak to the training provider, tell them where you are now, where you want to be and in what time frame. A good provider will guide you as to the best way of achieving this or if it is training that is needed. To many business pick training of the shelf, like a supermarket.
