Airshows and Tradeshows If you really want to see Aerospace Engineering in motion and how it is setting new trends, you should not miss airshows and industry tradeshows. Academic conferences are only there to depress you. The industry show cases itself in at least a dozen major shows around the world. It's mandatory to visit at least two every year if you want to stay relevant. Farnborough, Zhuhai, Dubai, Paris are some of the major ones.

Personally, for rotorcraft specifically, I would also recommend the Vertical Flight Society (VFS) Forums. Again, there are so many opportunities for Student involvement, but limited to Vertical Flight technologies. You return home motivated after attending one of these events!

In my personal case I have only participated with IEEE and AIAA; but there is also a chapter of the IEEE, the AESS, Aerospace and Electronic Systems that I also know of.

One thing I've found helpful is attending Local event which can be small boosters for being up-to-date with trending projects in the industry or particular company. You are not just attending it for networking but also for learning something more about the company and their expectations. These events can keep anybody alive for dreams irrespective of their rejections during job hunt.
